We’ll also stop at what we call “the single greatest secret photo opportunity in Franconia Notch”. After the walk (approx. 0.5 miles round-trip), we encourage you to either hike around Profile Lake, explore the waterfalls of the Basin, or visit the quaint Main St. of Littleton. 7:00PM – NH Wildlife Presentation brought to you by Real World NH (free event):Join Real World NH in the Main Lobby for an interpretive video journey of New Hampshire’s famous wildlife in their natural habitat. This presentation will feature up-close and personal footage of local black bears, bear cubs, moose, bobcats, and everything in between. Come and see NH’s animals gone wild!

9:00AM – Scenic Fall Tour (free event): During this tour we’ll visit a few of our favorite “secret spots”; including a number of scenic overlooks, a short walk around the peaceful property of poet Robert Frost, and a stop at what we describe as “the nicest view in NH”. Afterwards, we recommend exploring the quaint Main St. of Littleton, NH. Approx. 2-hour tour. Little to no walking required. A small cash donation is suggested at the Robert Frost House. Limited space.

1:00PM – “The Bette Davis Hike” (free event): Join us for a guided hike on “Bette Davis’ favorite trail” as we learn the rich history of her time in the area. It was at this site that the legendary actress had a plaque installed to commemorate the day she was rescued by a local innkeeper after becoming distressed. We will bring you to this secret location to view the plaque. Afterwards, we encourage you to venture off on your own and continue hiking to the beautiful Bridalveil Falls. Options are 2 miles (round-trip) to the plaque, or 5 miles (round-trip) to the falls. Limited space.

This 1.5-mile journey includes a stop at the Old Man Historic Site where you can view an optical illusion that makes it appear as if the Old Man still resides high on the cliffs of Cannon Mountain. Half of this hike requires walking on a dirt path with uneven footing at times, while the remainder is on a paved path with some ups-and-downs.

This walk is approx. 1-mile (round-trip) on a well maintained trail with a few ups-and-downs along the way. We’ll also introduce you to the Basin Cascade Trail, which we describe as one of the most scenic trails in the White Mountains for waterfalls and cascades.

It was at this site that the legendary actress had a plaque installed to commemorate the day she was rescued by a local innkeeper after becoming distressed. We will bring you to this secret location to view the plaque. Afterwards, we encourage you to venture off on your own and continue hiking to the beautiful Bridalveil Falls. Options are 2 miles (round-trip) to the plaque, or 5 miles (round-trip) to the falls. Limited space.

We offer a limited amount of discounted tickets (first-come, first-served starting at the conclusion of the Monday Orientation). Must provide your own transportation. Our train departs at 2pm, so you should be leaving the resort by 12:30ish to allow enough time. Please note: Advance reservations (free of charge) are now required to enter the visitor center on the summit (this is separate than your Cog reservation and can be done at thecog.com or see the Concierge). 10:30AM-12:30PM – Purchase Cog Railway Tickets and Concierge Hours: This will be one of your first opportunities to pick up discounted Cog tickets for Mt. Washington (limited amount available). 12:30PM – Mt. Washington Cog Railway: Take this scenic train ride to the summit of NH’s tallest mountain. We offer a limited amount of discounted tickets (first-come, first-served starting at the conclusion of the Monday Orientation). Must provide your own transportation. Our train departs at 2pm, so you should be leaving the resort by 12:30ish to allow enough time. Please note: Advance reservations (free of charge) are now required to enter the visitor center on the summit (this is separate than your Cog reservation and can be done at thecog.com or see the Concierge). Join us for an interpretive talk & walk at the Old Man Historic Site. We’ll also stop at what we call “the single greatest secret photo opportunity in Franconia Notch”. After the walk (approx. 0.5 miles round-trip), we encourage you to either hike around Profile Lake, explore the waterfalls of the Basin, or visit the quaint Main St. of Littleton. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1ST

12:00PM – Scenic Fall Tour (free event): During this tour we’ll visit a few of our favorite “secret spots”. We’ll start by viewing “the other stone face” in Franconia Notch, followed by a scenic overlook of Canada (on a clear day), then a short walk around the peaceful property of poet Robert Frost, and finally a stop at what we describe as “the nicest view in NH”. Afterwards, we recommend having lunch at Windy Ridge Orchard, or exploring the quaint Main St. of Littleton, NH. Approx. 1.5-hour tour. Little to no walking required. A small cash donation is suggested at the Robert Frost House. Limited space.

Or you can choose a harder version you can work on throughout the week. Return your list & photos to the Activities Desk for a prize.

7:00PM – NH Wildlife Presentation brought to you by Real World NH (free event): Join Real World NH in the Main Lobby for an interpretive video journey of New Hampshire’s famous wildlife in their natural habitat. This presentation will feature up-close and personal footage of local black bears, bear cubs, moose, bobcats, and everything in between. Come and see NH’s animals gone wild!RWNH

10:00AM – Kayak at Echo Lake: Join us for an hour of boating around Echo Lake while surrounded by the iconic cliffs of Franconia Notch. Keep your eyes peeled for the resident black bears on the ski slopes of Cannon Mountain. Choose from kayaks (single or double), canoes, or pedal boats. $20 per boat (includes entry fee, boat rental, and necessary equipment). Limited numbers of each kind of boat – first-come, first-served.

11:30AM – “The Bette Davis Hike” (free event): Join us for a guided hike on “Bette Davis’ favorite trail”. It was at this site that the legendary actress had a plaque installed to commemorate the day she was rescued by a local innkeeper after becoming distressed. We’ll learn the history of her time in the area, and we’ll bring you to this secret location to view the plaque. Afterwards, we encourage you to venture off on your own and continue hiking to the beautiful Bridalveil Falls. Options are 1.5 miles (round-trip) to the plaque, or 5 miles (round-trip) to the falls. Limited space.
